chariot prayers with family

Thaipusam  is a festival celebrated by the Tamil community on the full moon in the tamil month of Thai (January/February).The word Thaipusam is a combination of the name of the month, Thai, and the name of a star, Pusam. This particular star is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a Vel "spear" so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. It is commonly believed that Thaipusam marks Murugan's birthday; Some other sources suggest that Vaikhasi Vishakam, which falls in the Vaikhasi month (May/June), is Murugan's birthday.

On 30 January, that was the first day of the prayers for thaipusam .The Lord Murugan will be placed on the Chariot for a long ride and round near little india and it will continue going to the waterfall hilltop murugan temple.on that day i and my family was getting ready to go for the chariot prayers .we brought fruits such as banana, apple ,orange and guava ,and we also brought some flowers together with it for the prayers.we wear our traditional clothes such as saree ,punjabi and also we never we shoes for the chariot walk eventhought the road is hot but we still walk and we never care about the heat or the pain of our leg.

We was waiting for the chariot more than 4hours, it takes so long for the chariot to come near the gama supermarket.there was alot of entertainment things that happens infront of the supermarket for the indian people who gathers infront of the supermarket.

At 1pm the chariot was arrived near the gama supermarket ,I arrange the fruits and the flowers on the 'Thambalem'and i and my sister walk infront of the chariot and waiting for the people who incharge for the chariot to take the prayer things that i brought. After the prayers ,we went behind the chariot and pray for awhile than we went back home.
